A formal letter has a shape that has not changed in a century: sender's letterhead, recipient's address positioned so it shows through a window envelope, a place and date line, a subject, the body, and a signature block that must not be orphaned onto a page of its own. This tool lays all of that out on A4, flows the body across as many pages as it needs, and keeps the signature with the text that precedes it.

It also draws the DL fold marks — the two faint lines showing where to fold so the address lands in the envelope window. That is the detail that separates a letter you can post from one you have to fold three times and hope. Four header styles, an attachments list, and the whole thing typeset as vectors.

How it works

  1. Fill in your letterhead details and the recipient's address.
  2. Add the place, the date and the subject line.
  3. Write or paste the body — it flows across pages on its own.
  4. Add the signature block and any attachments, then download or open it for printing.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened by JavaScript and WebAssembly running inside your own browser tab. It is never uploaded, there is no server-side processing and nothing is stored — closing the tab discards everything.
What are the fold marks for?
They show where to fold an A4 sheet so the recipient's address ends up in the window of a DL envelope. Fold on the marks and it lines up; guess, and you refold it twice.
What happens if my letter runs to several pages?
The body flows on automatically and the signature block is kept with the text before it, so you never get a page containing nothing but a signature — which looks like a mistake even when it is not.
Can I use my own letterhead?
The tool draws a letterhead from your details in one of four styles. If you have a designed letterhead as a PDF, produce the letter with a plain header and put yours behind it with the Overlay tool, which keeps its vector quality.
The print button did not open a tab.
Your browser blocked the pop-up. The PDF is finished either way, so it is handed to you as a download instead — nothing is lost and you can print it from there.
