Frequently asked questions
- Is my file uploaded to a server?
- No. The file is opened by JavaScript and WebAssembly running inside your own browser tab. It is never uploaded, there is no server-side processing and nothing is stored — closing the tab discards everything.
- It says the PDF is already under the limit.
- Then there is nothing to do — splitting would produce a single part identical to the file you have. Lower the limit if you need smaller pieces than that.
- A single page is bigger than my limit. What then?
- Splitting cannot help, because a page is the smallest unit it can put in a part. Compress the document first — a full-page photograph is almost always what makes a page that heavy.
- Would compressing be better than splitting?
- Usually yes, if the recipient has to reassemble the parts. Try Compress first and split only what is still too large; four attachments are four chances for one to go missing.
- Are the parts exactly the size I set?
- No — each is filled up to the limit and then closed, so parts come out at various sizes below it. The guarantee is the ceiling, not a uniform size.
