N-up

Printing a fifty-page deck one slide to a sheet is a waste of paper and an annoyance to read. N-up places several pages on each sheet in reading order — two, four, six or more — with an optional thin border so the eye can tell where one page stops and the next begins.

The pages stay in the order you read them, which is what separates this from making a booklet: N-up is for handouts and reference copies you read flat, booklet is for pages folded into a spine. Text stays text, so the result is still searchable even though it is laid out for paper.

How it works

  2. Choose how many pages go on each sheet, and the layout.
  3. Turn on the border if the pages need visual separation.
  4. Download the N-up PDF and print it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened by JavaScript and WebAssembly running inside your own browser tab. It is never uploaded, there is no server-side processing and nothing is stored — closing the tab discards everything.
How many pages per sheet is sensible?
Two keeps a document comfortably readable. Four is the usual choice for slide handouts, where the type is large. Six or more only works for material that is mostly headings and pictures — body text at that size is a struggle on paper.
Can I fold the result into a booklet?
No. N-up keeps reading order, which is the wrong order for folding. Use the Make a booklet tool, which imposes the pages in saddle-stitch order for exactly that.
Is the text still selectable?
Yes. Pages are placed as page objects rather than pictures, so the result can still be searched and copied from.
My pages come out with uneven gaps.
That happens when the source pages are not all the same size — each one is fitted into its cell, so a shorter page leaves more space. Run Normalize size first and the grid will be even.
