This is the workbench for the case where several PDFs need to become one — or one needs to become several — and the page order is not obvious in advance. Every file you drop in becomes its own lane of page thumbnails. You drag pages within a lane or between lanes, rotate them, delete the ones that should not be there, and add an empty document to collect pages into something new.

Nothing is re-encoded while you do it. A page dragged from one document to another arrives with the same fonts, images and quality it had, because it is the same page object moved, not a picture of it. When the layout is right you decide the output: one merged PDF, or one file per lane.

How it works

  3. Rotate or delete pages, and add an empty document if you want to build a new one.
  4. Choose one PDF or separate files, and save.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened by JavaScript and WebAssembly running inside your own browser tab. It is never uploaded, there is no server-side processing and nothing is stored — closing the tab discards everything.
How is this different from the Merge tool?
Merge joins whole files in an order you set. This works at page level: you see every page, move individual ones between documents, and can come out with several files rather than one. Use Merge when the files are already right; use this when the pages are not.
Does dragging pages around reduce their quality?
No. Pages are moved as objects, not re-rendered, so the fonts and images are bit-for-bit what they were. That is the difference between rearranging a PDF and printing it to PDF again, which does re-encode everything.
Can I undo a deletion?
Nothing is written until you save, so the original file on your disk is untouched throughout. If the arrangement goes wrong, reload the page and start again from the files you dropped in.
There are a lot of pages and it feels slow.
Every thumbnail is a rendered page, so a several-hundred-page document is genuine work for the browser. It is smoother if you split the job: bring in the files you actually need to rearrange rather than everything at once.
