Passport and ID photos are rejected for geometry, not for looking bad. The rules specify how tall the head must be within the frame and where the eyes have to sit, and a photo that is a few millimetres out comes back from the counter. This tool crops to the 35 × 45 mm standard with guides on screen for the head, the eyes and the chin, so you position the face against the requirement rather than against your judgement.

It outputs at 300 dpi, which is what a photo lab or a home printer needs for a sharp result, and gives you both a single PDF and a sheet of copies to cut. What it cannot do is fix the photo itself: the background, the lighting, the expression and the glasses are still governed by your country's rules, and those vary. Check them before you print a sheet.

How it works

  1. Load a photo of the face, taken straight on against a plain background.
  2. Drag and zoom until the head, eyes and chin sit inside the guides.
  3. Download the 35 × 45 mm PDF, or the sheet of copies.
  4. Print at 300 dpi on photo paper and cut.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened by JavaScript and WebAssembly running inside your own browser tab. It is never uploaded, there is no server-side processing and nothing is stored — closing the tab discards everything.
Will this be accepted for my passport?
The geometry will be right for the 35 × 45 mm standard, which is what most countries use and the most common reason for rejection. The rest — background colour, lighting, no smiling, no glasses — depends on your own country's rules, and this tool cannot check those for you.
What are the guides for?
They mark where the top of the head, the eye line and the chin have to fall. Positioning against them is the difference between a photo that measures correctly and one that merely looks about right.
Why 300 dpi?
Because that is what makes a 35 × 45 mm print sharp. A photo that looks fine on screen can be far too low-resolution once it is printed that small — a face at 72 dpi on paper is visibly soft.
Can I use a phone photo?
Yes, if it was taken straight on, at eye level, against a plain light wall with even light. Modern phone cameras have plenty of resolution; framing and lighting are what usually go wrong, not the sensor.
