Placing a signature on a PDF covers the everyday case: a delivery note, a rental agreement, a school form that someone needs back with a signature on it. You draw or upload the signature, position it, and the image becomes part of the page.

This is a visible signature, not a cryptographic one. It proves nothing about who signed or whether the document changed afterwards. When you need that — a legally qualified signature with a certificate — use the Digital signature tool instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened by JavaScript and WebAssembly running inside your own browser tab. It is never uploaded, there is no server-side processing and nothing is stored — closing the tab discards everything.
Is a drawn signature legally valid?
It depends on the jurisdiction and the type of document. In many contexts a simple electronic signature is accepted for ordinary agreements, while property, employment and court documents often require a qualified digital signature. Check what the recipient requires.
How do I get a clean signature image?
Sign on white paper with a dark pen, photograph it in even light, and upload it — the background is removed so only the strokes are placed on the page.
What is the difference from the Digital signature tool?
That tool applies a cryptographic signature bound to a certificate, which detects any later modification of the document. This one places a picture of a signature.
