Afbeeldingen verkleinen
Verklein JPG, PNG en WebP voor het web in één klik — kwaliteitsschuif, optioneel resizen, batch als zip. Alles in de browser.
Photographs straight from a phone are eight megabytes of detail that a web page will display at 800 pixels wide. This tool re-encodes JPG, PNG and WebP at a quality you choose, optionally resizing to a maximum width first, and will process a batch at once and hand it back as a zip.
Two things it does that a naive compressor does not. Resizing before re-encoding is what actually saves the weight — dropping quality on a 4,000-pixel image still leaves you a 4,000-pixel image. And a file that is already well optimised is kept as it was rather than re-encoded into something slightly worse and no smaller, which is the trap of running everything through a compressor twice.
How it works
- Drop in your images — several at once is fine.
- Choose the output format and, if it helps, a maximum width.
- Set the quality and check the saving reported.
- Download the images, or the zip if there are several.
What people use it for
- Preparing photographs for a website so pages load in reasonable time.
- Shrinking images to fit an upload limit on a form or a portal.
- Batch-processing a folder of phone photos before emailing them.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my file uploaded to a server?
- No. The file is opened by JavaScript and WebAssembly running inside your own browser tab. It is never uploaded, there is no server-side processing and nothing is stored — closing the tab discards everything.
- It says a file was already optimised and kept the original.
- Re-encoding it would have made it slightly worse without making it smaller, so it was left alone. Running images through a compressor repeatedly degrades them a little each time; this refuses to do that for no gain.
- Quality or maximum width — which matters more?
- Width, usually by a wide margin. An image displayed 800 pixels wide gains nothing from being 4,000, and resizing removes that waste outright. Lower the quality after that, not instead of it.
- Which output format should I pick?
- WebP for the web: noticeably smaller than JPEG at the same quality and supported everywhere that matters now. JPEG when something old has to open it. PNG only for graphics with flat colour or transparency — a photograph as PNG is enormous.
- Can it compress the images inside a PDF?
- No, this works on image files. For a heavy PDF use Compress, which reduces what is inside the document.
